Step 1. Make sure to Install Tag assistant Companion extension to test your pixel. Now, go to our app and click on the βSettingsβ icon.
Then, click on the βGo to Containerβ link and it will direct you to GTM (Google Tag Manager). Note: The Go to Container link takes 2-3 minutes to activate, so please be patient.
Step 2. Click the three dots in the top-right corner and select Preview.
Enter your store URL in Tag Assistant Companion and click Connect.
Step 3. After clicking Connect, you'll be directed to your website. Open any product, then return to the blinking Tag Assistant Companion tab and click Continue.
Now, return to your website and perform various events such as Add to Cart, Checkout, etc. Ensure that while performing activities on your website, you do not close the Tag Assistant pop-up.
Step 4. After completing the activities, you can verify in the Tag Assistant tab that the events have been fired. You can also check the data layer there.
Step 5. To test Purchase, use the Shopify Custom Pixel Test option or the Tag Assistant Legacy extension, as Google Tag Assistant doesnβt support it. For further details, you can check the Shopify Help Center. To test a purchase, go to Shopify Settings, open the Customer Events section, find the custom pixel for our app, and click on Test.
Open any product, click Add to Cart, proceed to Checkout, and complete the purchase. Make sure not to close the Pixel Helper extension pop-up during the process.
After completing the purchase, you'll see that the purchase event was triggered in Pixel Helper. Click on Checkout Completed, then click Show to view the entire data layer.
Step 6. To test using the Tag Assistant Legacy extension, first install and pin the extension. Open it, click Enable and Record on your website.
Perform the necessary activities, complete the purchase, and then open the extension to match the Conversion Labels in our app with the purchase label.
Here, you can see that all your events are being tracked accurately.
