To set up server-side tracking, you need to have a server in place. If you donโt already have one, follow these steps to create it:
To initiate the server-side setup, start by creating a server container in Google Tag Manager (GTM).
Open your GTM account and navigate to the container you've linked with your Shopify store. Click on the three dots next to the container, then select "Create Container" from the options.
Enter a name for your server container, select "Server" from the options below, and then click the "Create" button in the top right corner.
After clicking "Create," a pop-up will appear. Select "Automatically provision tagging server for Google Cloud," then click on "Automatically provision tagging server." If you are setting up a Stape server, choose the alternative option instead.
Next, add your billing account and proceed to create your server.
It may take a few moments to create your server, so please remain on the same page. After some time, you will see a message indicating that your container has been successfully created, as shown below.
Now, go back to the Shopify application and click on the "Setup" button under the server-side section.
Next, select "Google Cloud."
Now click on "Select Server Container." The application will automatically detect the server you created under this Google account. Choose your server from the options below.
Next, click on "Select Tagging URL" and choose your tagging URL from the options below. Then, click the "Save" button to finalize the setup.
